Making a Difference, One Bottle at a Time: Jobedge’s New Initiative with The Mustard Seed Family Project

In efforts to promote sustainability and give back to the community, Jobedge has partnered with The Mustard Seed Family Project (TMSFP) — a local charity dedicated to supporting people experiencing homelessness, particularly in the Adelaide region. 

Founded in 2019 by Georgi Thomas, TMSFP began with a simple idea: collecting 10c bottles and cans to raise funds for essential grocery items and food parcels. What started as a small act of kindness has since evolved into a broader community movement, combining environmental action with social support. 

TMSFP’s reach now extends beyond bottle collection. The organisation also runs Latte 4 U, a coffee van that operates on weekends and provides free coffee to people doing it tough. They’ve also launched Shelter 4 U, building tiny homes to provide emergency accommodation for individuals and families facing homelessness. 

TMSFP also operates as a social enterprise, with income-generating elements like the coffee van helping to fund charitable efforts and expand impact. It’s a model that not only gives back but also pays forward. 

At the heart of these efforts is Georgi’s simple but powerful belief: 

“Having the ability to change someone’s life through your actions — like giving them a warm coffee, a meal, and the support they need — is the greatest miracle in life.”

Georgi’s work was already making a visible impact across Adelaide, inspiring Jobedge to find a way to contribute. As a first step, Direct Collect bins were introduced across Jobedge sites, encouraging staff and participants to donate eligible 10c bottles and cans. With 100% of proceeds going directly to support TMSFP’s programs, this simple initiative became the starting point of a meaningful partnership — one that supports both sustainability and South Australians in need. 

After the initiative was underway, Jobedge’s Regional Manager, Rebecca Beaumont, reached out to Georgi with a call to share what had already been set in motion. That initial conversation sparked something more — a shared commitment to community, collaboration, and lasting impact.

What began with bottle donations has since grown into something much more. 

TMSFP and Jobedge are also creating hands-on opportunities for Jobedge participants. Through the Latte 4 U van, participants can now gain valuable work experience — learning customer service and barista skills in a supportive, real-world setting. This training not only builds confidence but also opens doors to future employment in hospitality and beyond. 

Through this partnership, Jobedge continues to embed sustainability, community support, and participant empowerment into its core work. From bottles to barista training, Jobedge is proud to back initiatives that make a real difference—one bottle, one opportunity, and one life at a time.
