At Jobedge, every day is an opportunity to make a real impact, and it’s our incredible team that makes it all happen.
Each member brings something unique to the table, and today, we’re introducing Leanne Oaten, one of our dedicated In-Work Support Mentors.
Leanne works closely with participants after they’ve started in their new roles. Her focus is to make sure everything is running smoothly, from checking participants are meeting their hours to ensuring they’re looking after their own wellbeing.
She’s passionate about helping others, and says the most rewarding part of her role is seeing the joy on a participant’s face when they’ve secured a job that transforms their life.
Leanne lives with a disability herself, and her experience on both sides of the desk gives her a deep understanding of the challenges many participants face.
Amongst the team, Leanne is known for bringing warmth, humour and honesty to every conversation.
Leanne values how Jobedge keeps everyone in the loop. Regular updates about important activities like contracts and tenders help everyone in the business feel involved and part of the bigger picture.
One of the most important things Leanne has learned during her time here is the value of trust. She’s come to genuinely rely on the people she works with and works for, and believes that sense of mutual trust makes a real difference in the workplace.
Her advice to others interested in this kind of work is simple:
“If you have passion, then get on board.”
When she’s not checking in with participants or supporting the team, Leanne enjoys watching AFL and NRL and planning her next cruise holiday. Her motto sums up her approach: “Nothing to it. Just do it.”
With people like Leanne by their side, Jobedge participants know they’re never on the journey alone. To find out more about how we support individuals living with a disability, injury or illness, or to explore career opportunities, visit our Job Seekers and Careers pages.
