Meet Melinda: Empowering Job Seekers with Passion and Purpose 

At Jobedge, every day is an opportunity to make a real impact, and it’s our incredible team that makes it all happen. 

Today, we’re shining a spotlight on Melinda Pethick, one of our dedicated Disability Employment Service (DES) Mentors driven by a passion for helping others and making a positive difference one participant at a time.  

Before joining us, Mel worked alongside the Department of Child Protection, mentoring and caring for children under the Guardianship of the Minister. During that time, she provided crucial support and guidance, setting the stage for her current role where she continues to deliver a meaningful impact.  

As a mentor, Melinda builds genuine relationships with participants, diving deep to uncover their interests, strengths, and potential. From there, she helps them grow their skills, boost their confidence, and ultimately secure roles that not only suit them but excite them for the future. 

Melinda isn’t just matching resumes to job listings; she’s building partnerships that work for both the participants and employers, supporting and guiding everyone through the process. 

Although she only joined the Jobedge team in December, Melinda looks forward to every new day as an opportunity to learn and grow with a fun and vibrant team. 

Melinda believes that the key to success in this line of work is constantly being open to learning:  

“Relationship building and taking action is paramount in this line of work. My advice for anyone considering this type of role is to be willing to learn and staying focused on your goals.” 

Melinda has already proven herself as a resilient and reliable individual, observed in her passionate nature to inspire participants to reach their employment goals. 

“Every day brings something new, and I’m always learning new ways to best support my participants to reach their goals. It’s incredibly rewarding, and makes me very happy.”  

When she’s not empowering participants to reach their goals, Melinda finds her own inspiration in nature. Whether it’s bushwalking, soaking up the sun, or relaxing with family, friends, and her dogs, she knows how to recharge her spirit.
