Meet Sam: Creating Meaningful Opportunities with Confidence
At Jobedge, every day is an opportunity to make a real impact, and it’s our incredible team that makes it all happen.
Today, we’re shining a spotlight on Sam Hamze, one of our charismatic Disability Employment Service (DES) Mentors, motivated to make a difference to peoples’ livelihoods.
Sam has a strong background in customer service, forming the basis of his people-centric attitude, rapport-building and problem-solving. He understands the value of ensuring everyone he meets is listened to and understood and translates these skills to get the best results.
In his role as a Mentor, Sam spends his day finding the perfect fit for his participants, marketing them to his network of employers to achieve life-changing results. He works hard to provide the right support for all his participants, helping them overcome and manage any barriers to employment, such as organising transport, or ensuring a potential workplace is fully accessible to accommodate for each individual’s needs.
The most important thing he’s learned in his time at Jobedge is that everyone who walks through the door has a completely different story to the next, keeping every day unique and interesting, with no two cases the same. More importantly, he’s learned that everyone’s differences should be embraced to create inclusive environments where everyone’s unique skills and experiences can be embraced in the workplace.
Sam’s favourite thing about working at Jobedge is working towards sustainable employment outcomes with the incredible team in a positive, uplifting environment, fueled by shared lunches for the whole team, and a shared purpose to help people reach their goals.
His advice to anyone entering a similar line of work is that confidence is key:
“Enter with confidence. Confidence will help you communicate well with your participants, network with employers, and encourage you to step out of your comfort zone.”
When Sam isn’t helping improve peoples’ lives by helping secure meaningful employment opportunities, he’s training at the gym, watching sports, and getting ready to become a father.
With dedicated team members like Sam, the team at Jobedge are committed to supporting participants to Progress Together. If you would like to learn more about how Jobedge can individuals living with a disability, injury or illness, find work, visit our Job Seekers page.
